Honda EU2200i Propane, Natural Gas & Gasoline Tri-Fuel Conversion Kit

Packages travelling across to Canada seem a little slow in arriving. Had to pay 64 $Can in duty charges on its arrival today (but we are used to that - so, no big surprise). The box was pretty punched in on one end. I mean the end of the box was kinda like an accordion. About an inch of the end of the box could flex in and out. The corners of the box were pushed in as well but mostly on the accordion end. It was fortunate that there was nothing delicate in the box as surely there would have been damage to the contents. It's a little hard to imagine the abuse these packages are receiving in order to punch the cardboard in so substantially. How far did someone throw that box or from what height did it drop and how many times did it experience a crash landing in its travels? The shipping industry is starting to get a very bad rap. However - I think the industry is heavily burdened by the increased amount of shipping that is done these days. Those external and internal pressures are causing our goods to experience substantial abuse in transit.

The single sheet of packing paper around the big regulator unit (I'm not exactly sure of what it's called (haven't opened the instructions yet to learn the part names)) had torn from the obvious impact it endured during shipping. Your unit is hard and rugged and could probably take some serious impact abuse - but that little single piece of paper (in which the unit was wrapped) might not be enough to keep your product from flying around inside the box. The real issue is the empty space remaining in the container (the box) when it lands after being thrown 20 feet inside (or outside) some warehouse. The inertia of the contents causes the unit inside the box to fill the empty space when it lands on a concrete floor. That inside movement of the product in the box plays havoc on the contents. I think that's why there was a tear in the packing paper - not that the box was punctured or anything. However - clearly - from my experience - there was not enough packing material inside the box to keep the unit stationary as it was experiencing the circus maneuvers and rodeo ride the shippers were putting it through. Again - luckily your product is rugged and it arrived safely in good shape.

I'm a little sensitive about shipping products as I do some shipping myself, but more importantly, I use Amazon as our printing platform for our music books that we self-publish. We order our print books from amazon and resell them to our customers. The print quality (at least our Amazon print contractor in Ontario) is quite good - but their shipping is SHAMEFULL. The same issue is in play with them as well. The contents of the box (freely stacked books) are very unsecured and there is way too much open/empty space in the box and not near enough packing material to fill up the extra space. The result - we have damaged books arrive each time we get a shipment. Very sad, frustrating and unnecessary.

However - now I got that off my chest.
Your product arrived safe and sound. I'm looking forward to using propane in my Honda generator in the future. I have become very wary of the stability of our (everyone's) energy supplies. I recently (well actually about 18 months ago) switched to an off-grid kitchen range and am really enjoying it. I use it as a heater as well on early cold winter mornings. I am in the process of stocking up and storing propane for my kitchen range (100lb tanks) and now for my generator (20lb tanks) as well. The gasoline I had stored for my generator last winter has gone bad and it's just not the right fuel to depend on in a crisis. I think I'll have to start building an extra shed just to store my propane. Propane doesn't go bad - isn't that a blast (oow, is that a bad pun?).

In closing - thanks so much for the work you are doing and supplying these handy conversion kits. I'm really looking forward to trying out my propane fired Honda generator sometime this summer. Thanks again!!

The conversion kit is complete; the instructions were easy to follow and were written in plain english. Approx. install time is 30 minutes.

The retrofit really was simple and done in record time, as advertised. I did not try the propane hookup, but natural gas worked great, as that will be the most probable application for home use. Initially, the generator ran extremely rough on startup, so I inquired of technical support before proceeding. Amongst the suggestions was to ensure econ mode was turned off initially to engage fast idle. That did the trick, as some residual gasoline apparently needed to be burned off before returned to slow idle.

Super high quality. Detailed video instructions. If I were to own and run and company I would strive to be like Hutch Mountain. Stop looking elsewhere and buy from Hutch Mountain.

Modified a new Honda EU2200i Companion model generator with ZERO issues! Started it up on propane and it ran great. Haven’t put one drop of gas in it yet and don’t intend to if I can avoid it. Kit included additional orifices for high altitude operation as well as natural gas. Highly recommend!
